Condensate it needs to drain from a Rinnai unit, not so much from a noncondensing model a V or a RL series only if you go further then the standard horizontal vent or through the roof.
On a condensing model hence the name it makes condensate and it need to properly be drained from the unit and to the local plumbing code.

1/2" CPVC female adaptor #4703 .47
If you follow this video and others I have out you will have no problem with your unit.
REMENBER NEVER COMBINE THE CONDENSATE DRAIN WITH THE RELIEF VALVE OR ANOTHER CONDENSATE DRAIN LINE. ALWAYS HAVE TWO SEPERATE DRAINS.
