Menai Bridge town winter walk, Anglesey, North Wales.

Описание к видео Menai Bridge town winter walk, Anglesey, North Wales.

‪@walkingwithbill‬ takes a walk around the historic town of Menai Bridge (Porthaethwy in Welsh) with its famous suspension bridge built by Thomas Telford between 1819 and 1826. Prior to the bridge being built there was a ferry across the often dangerous Menai Straits; cattle were driven (swam) across to the mainland from Penmon to Abergwygregyn. As well as the bridge I go along the Belgian promenade which was constructed by Belgian refugees during the first world war and completed in 1916. The walk then takes me to YnysTysilio (Tysilio Island) which has an early 14th Century Church and graveyard.
