Lalita Sahasranama Stotra is a Sacred Hymn sung by the Hindus in praise of Goddess Lalita. This Stotra is present in Chapter 36 (Lalithopakhyanam) of Brahmanda Purana, where Hayagriva, an incarnation of Sri Maha Vishnu preached this Hymn to Sage Agastya. This Stotra lists Thousand Names of Goddess Lalita Devi, a manifestation of the Divine Mother (Shakti), who is described as the Most Powerful Almighty (Sakala Shakti Swaroopini) and the Creator of Creation.

Upon the command of the Goddess Lalita herself, the Lalita Sahasranama is said to have been recited by eight Vagdevis (deities) namely Vasini, Jayini, Kaulini, Modini, Aruna, Vimala, Kameswari and Sarveswari. This Stotra has great importance in Shakti worship and Srividya. It is chanted in various modes of worship of the Divine Mother such as Parayana (recitations), Archana, and Homam. Reciting this Stotra is believed to bring all good fortune, remove all difficulties, and attain liberation from the materialistic world.

Shri Lalithambigai Temple, located at Thirumeeyachur on the Mayavaram - Tiruvarur Road in Thiruvarur District in Tamil Nadu is most famous for the recitation of Lalita Sahasranama Stotra.
