Trains & Buses at the new High Wycombe Station - Perth's Airport Line

Описание к видео Trains & Buses at the new High Wycombe Station - Perth's Airport Line

In this video we visit High Wycombe station, the terminus of Perth's new Airport Line which opened on the 9th October 2022. It's the only surface-level station on the new railway line and is predicted to be the busiest on the line as it serves as the gateway for eastern suburbs in the City of Kalamunda LGA with a population of over 58,000.

We start the video at the train platforms where we see Transperth B Series EMU's arrive and depart the station. We also take a quick walkthrough one of the trains. We then head outside to the bus where we see various Transperth buses. High Wycombe is served by bus routes 270, 271, 275, 277, 278, 293, 655 special event service, and 902 rail replacement service (I had to look all this up on Wikipedia because Transperth hasn't updated their network maps despite the line having been opened for over 2 weeks now).

Despite being filmed during off-peak we do see a decent variety of buses including a Volvo B12BLEA with a Volgren 'CR228L' body, some Mercedes Benz OC500LE's with Volgren 'CR228L' bodies, and Volvo B7RLE's with Volgren 'CR228L' & 'Optimus' bodies. This video was filmed on the 10th October 2022; the first day of revenue services on the line after the community open day the day prior, so there's a lot less crowds around compared to last time.

To me High Wycombe station has the architectural style of Mernda station in Melbourne with the layout of Tallawong station in Sydney. It's mostly a nice looking and functional station; but on this particular day it was rather windy. With its higher platform canopies and no wind breaks (unlike similar island-platform stations on the Joondalup and Mandurah Lines) I don't think the station provides as good weather protection compared to other stations on the network.
