Children under 2 years old should not sleep in a car seat for longer than 2 hours, and for newborns, the limit is even shorter—no more than 30 minutes. Newborns and infants have weaker neck muscles and smaller airways, making them particularly vulnerable. If your baby falls asleep during a trip, it’s best to transfer them to a flat, firm sleep surface as soon as possible upon arrival. Regular breaks during long journeys to check on and reposition your child can help reduce these risks and ensure safer travel.
