The Special Investigation Team (SIT) has concluded that the deaths that occurred in Jangareddygudem, Eluru district, during Jagan's tenure as Chief Minister were not natural deaths, but rather caused by consuming illicit liquor laced with dangerous methyl alcohol. The SIT report clearly stated that the police acted negligently in the investigation of these cases and suppressed the facts due to political pressure. The report highlighted that due to the failure of the then-ruling government, 25 impoverished people lost their lives, and evidence was suppressed to prevent them from receiving justice. Regarding these consecutive deaths that occurred between March 9th and 12th, 2022, the police initially registered only four cases and washed their hands of the matter. Although samples were collected from the deceased and sent to the forensic lab, the reports were suppressed due to pressure from Jagan's Tadepalli palace. The victims died in agony before their family members' eyes, exhibiting horrific symptoms such as severe abdominal pain, blurred vision, vomiting, and darkening of the face. However, the then Chief Minister Jagan, responding to this tragedy in the Assembly, dismissed them all as natural deaths. He misled the assembly with false statistics, claiming that an average of 90 people die in Jangareddygudem every month, and that the deaths were due to illness, not illicit liquor. The SIT (Special Investigation Team) has now scientifically proven that people resorted to consuming illicit liquor due to the unavailability of quality liquor brands, and that these deaths occurred because traders mixed and sold methyl alcohol, which is used for industrial purposes. In this case, the SIT collected crucial evidence through a 'psychological autopsy'. They obtained statements from the family members of the deceased regarding the victims' habits and their mental and physical condition before their deaths. The families' descriptions of new symptoms appearing immediately after consuming the liquor scientifically confirmed that these were not natural deaths. This investigation, conducted after the coalition government came to power, has brought to light the dark aspects of the previous administration.
