How to Decide Between Two Different Study or Career Paths

In this video I'm going to take you through a step-by-step process that you can use for choosing between two different study/career directions.

This is a really common, and difficult, decision for people to have to make!

It feels paralysing to say "Well, I could choose to study medicine OR I could choose to study languages".

"Which should I choose?"

It's difficult because it taps into part of our psychology called "Fear of Loss".

Put most simply, once we "own" something we hate to give it up.

Like that backpack you got given for free and don't really like, but that might "come in handy" at some point in future.

Or that old t-shirt that you've had forever but that "one day" you might want to wear again (I'm TOTALLY guilty of this one). .

We HATE giving up what we already own.

And this includes giving up POSSIBLE choices (like a certain degree or career direction) that we "own" in our minds.

We're literally TORN between two different things: the choice that we will make... and the one that we had to give up.

But fortunately there are things we can do to make this easier.

Most important in all of this is not to put pressure on yourself.

You have time. You can always change if the path you choose doesn't work out.

And remember: when we choose between two different options, we're not LOSING one, we're GAINING the one we want most!
