Описание к видео English | How is LEAD's pre-primary curriculum taught to students? | LEAD

Usually, a teacher teaches students by drawing alphabets on a blackboard. Young children being restless and highly energetic may not entirely focus on what is taught in their class.

LEAD's pre-primary curriculum brings a considerable shift in the way learning takes place in a classroom. The curriculum is integrated, student-focused, thematic and multi-modal.

You must wonder what these four approaches mean and how they benefit your child. To understand the science behind each, watch our video.

In the last video, we learnt how pre-primary students learn, what a great pre-primary teacher does and how pre-primary classrooms need to be.

In this video, we will learn more about the LEAD pre-primary curriculum.
Traditionally, teachers teach the alphabet and numbers and, students repeat them after the teacher. With the LEAD pre-primary curriculum, there is a considerable shift in the way learning takes place in a classroom.

The approach followed in LEAD pre-primary is integrated, student-focused, thematic and multi-modal. Let us understand what we mean by each of these terms.

Integrated:

Earlier, a teacher had different periods in pre-primary. With LEAD, the learning experiences are integrated as a whole.

A 4-hour lesson covers everything from physical education, creative, English, Maths, EVS, Socio-Emotional to music and movement. In all the lessons knowledge and skills are linked together rather than separated into teaching and learning processes. This is what we call integrated.

Student-focused:

In LEAD pre-primary, the focus is mainly on students. We know children learn by playing, listening to stories, exploring, doing activities and creating. LEAD pre-primary curriculum offers students all of this and more.

Thematic:

There are seven different themes covered throughout the year. Using different EVS topics, each theme brings together learning for the unit.
The theme helps students to connect their learning to the real world, which, in turn, helps them retain concepts for a longer time, think deeply as they learn and stay interested in the learning process.

Multi-modal:

Each of the concepts is taught using multiple approaches. This helps engage all the students and create a better connection as all the senses of a student are used.

All these four are unique to the LEAD pre-primary curriculum. The three main aims of cognitive milestones, developmental milestones and school readiness are achieved with the curriculum being integrated, student-focused, thematic and multi-modal.
