A powerful Kathak performance by Minu Garu at the Sopan festival

Moving towards the last performance of the Sopan festival day 1. Young Minu Garu is a Kathak dancer who not just learns Kathak but teaches as well. Famous Kathak gharana of Lucknow the Kalka- Bindadin Gharana and Padma Shree Awardee Pandit Shambhoo Maharaj Ji was the member of this gharana. Minu begins here performance with Krishna Vandana leading to Shudh nritya and then she would end her performance with a thumri.

Delhi government always tries to come up with such cultural events especially being organised outdoor and not in an auditorium. Well, the artists in this six-day festival called Sopan which is a festival full of young dancers and musicians. All these artists have been given scholarship by Sahitya Kala Parishad. So all the artists performing in this six-day festival are scholarship holders of Sahitya Kala Parishad and they are very talented and amongst the best in their generation and that's how they have been given scholarships to pursue their different art forms.
