I took a stroll on the path with the ivy
Meandered thru the meadow under blue sky
My little jaunt was alive with wildlife surprise
As I rambled past the hedgerow beside me
I sauntered with a bee who was following me,
A butterfly flew by, as I sashayed to the side,
I tip-toed around a turtle, who was heading towards the myrtle
With determination in her stride
I proceeded on my way when a chippy scampered up my leg
And I mis-stepped into a puddle with dismay
I traipsed past a fawn with her mama looking on
In the shadows of the trees by the pond
I heard a duck quack, quack and a frog took a splash
Sending ripples in the reeds along the way
It was like a sonata, it had all the drama
with a touch of ballet
A snake slithered by out of the corner of my eye
And disappeared into deep greens and browns
A ladybird on my shoulder and a grasshopper on a boulder
Shared my friendship on this walkabout,
Instrumental to verse
The clover smelled so sweet; I could almost taste it in a treat
Like my mother used to make with honey
I heard birds everywhere, songs filling up the air
And a breeze you couldn’t buy with money
