This is a short video (no sound) of clips from the April 22, 1967 and April 23, 1967 Major League Baseball games between the New York Yankees and the Red Sox in Boston.
Boston's blossoming MVP, Carl Yastrzemski, hits long homers in both clips.
In the first game, he connects off Fred Talbot in the first inning of a 5-4 Red Sox win.
In the second game, also in the first inning, Yastrzemski homers off Jim Bouton with a man on in what ended up a 7-5 Yankees victory.
Baseball historians believe this may have been the pitch that got Bouton thinking that he needed to stop trying to get by on mediocre fastballs and give the old knuckleball a try. Sounds like a book idea to me.
