The story of the gifted child rarely begins with pressure or burnout. It almost always begins quite the opposite actually, with ease. Early on, something becomes clear to the adults around them. This child learns faster. They grasp concepts intuitively. They only need to be given the dots and they figure out how to connect them.

While other children struggle through repetition, confusion, and trial and error, the gifted child often understands things the first time they encounter them. And because school rewards outcomes rather than the process, this difference is immediately reinforced.
