We'll be doing that right the way through till the end. And, this NATO is about stiffening our sinews and getting out there and making sure that we are backing Ukraine. And that's exactly what we'll be doing this morning, and in this afternoon session in particular."

“As you know, the President of the Republic, since his election in 2017, has decided to double the French National Defence budget, so from a budget of around 30 billion euros in 2017, we will eventually reach 69 billion euros. This allows me to confirm that France will meet the 2% objective given by NATO. 2% of GDP in the year 2024. The real question now is not so much getting to 2%. Even if this is a subject that many people seem to be passionate about, it is to obviously ensure that 2% of GDP is really useful in the military field. These are not numbers, they are not tables, it is not public money that will deter the Russian Federation from waging war on us or in any case from wanting to attack our collective security. It matters what we really do with it. I had the opportunity to say in a moment that beyond 2% of GDP, we must also look at the share of real investment in equipment.”
