Kurt Rosenwinkel - The American multi-instrumentalist, composer and producer has gained international acclaim for his deft artistry and unbridled individualism since his first appearance on the New York music scene in 1991. His legacy as the preeminent jazz guitar voice of his generation is evident on his eleven albums as a leader, each of which has been an inspiration to legions of musicians young and old around the world. Collaborations with Eric Clapton, Gary Burton, Paul Motian, Joe Henderson, Brad Mehldau, Seamus Blake and Donald Fagen are just a few highlights from a remarkably diverse and extensive catalog of over 150 sideman recordings. Rosenwinkel has lived in Berlin since 2004 and was for a time professor of jazz guitar at the local JIB. He also runs the Heartcore Records label with great success, releasing his own as well as exciting contemporary music by other artists.
Ben Wendel is considered one of the most acclaimed, creative, and talented saxophonists of our time. Growing up in a musical family, Wendel has been playing piano, saxophone, and even bassoon since his youth—an instrument he has now masterfully incorporated into the jazz context, a rarity in the genre. He first gained attention as a member of the Grammy-nominated fusion band Kneebody. Over the years, he has collaborated with leading figures in the jazz world, such as Tigran Hamasyan, Eric Harland, Cécile McLorin Salvant, Bill Frisell, Ambrose Akinmusire, Joshua Redman, Mark Turner, and many more. Additionally, he has worked in the pop sphere with artists like Prince and Snoop Dogg, as well as engaging in classical music projects.
Ben Street has been a fixture in the world of jazz double bass since the 1990s. He studied with Miroslav Vitous and Dave Holland before moving to New York, where he is a sought-after player in all sub-genres of jazz. He has worked with Lee Konitz, Sam Rivers, Ben Monder, Joey Calderazzo, Cindy Lauper and is a member of the Billy Hart Quartet together with Mark Turner and Ethan Iverson. He can be heard on more than 100 recordings and is the winner of the Down Beat Critics Poll 2020.
Jeff Ballard - Born on September 17, 1963, in Santa Cruz, CA, USA, Ballard’s past and present recording sessions and touring associates read like a who’s who of jazz. To name a select few: Chick Corea, Pat Metheny, Joshua Redman, Kurt Rosenwinkel, and Brad Mehldau.
His present work continues with the Brad Mehldau Trio, as co-leader of collective group FLY (featuring Mark Turner, Ballard, and Larry Grenadier) and with his own groups The Jeff Ballard Trio and Jeff Ballard Fairgrounds.
