In this YouTube video, I demonstrate how I achieve a glamorous Old Hollywood-inspired portrait using continuous lights, specialty modifiers, and creative filter techniques.

Drawing inspiration from legendary photographers like George Hurrell, Horst P. Horst, and Clarence Bull, I create my own 4-light setup, utilizing hard light and stunning styling to achieve a ‘classic with a modern twist.’

I walk you through the whole setup step-by-step—from shaping the main light with a Fresnel to adding defined rim lights for separation and finishing with a soft background glow.

You’ll also see how I integrate a strong diffusion filter to mimic vintage halation and even take a look further with a stylized color grade. Whether in rich black and white or saturated color, this shoot is all about atmosphere, classic styling, and storytelling through light.
