SACRAMENTO, Calif. – Anthony Edwards had 26 points, four rebounds, five assists, two steals, and the Minnesota Timberwolves won easily 144-117 over the Sacramento Kings.

The Kings (3-7) lose their second straight game at Golden 1 Center, both lopsided results. The Timberwolves had 31 fastbreak points, they led by as many as 32 points, and they converted 18 turnovers into 32 points. Minnesota scored no less than 31 points in any quarter.

It’s also the second consecutive game where defensive wiz Keon Ellis didn’t enter the game for the Kings until the fourth quarter. Precious Achiwa did get the start at power forward, producing 12 points and 10 points.

Edwards made 7 of 16 shots from the field, 5 of 11 beyond the arc, and 7 of 8 at the free-throw line. Following up a 37-point effort in a win over the Utah Jazz on Nov. 7, Edwards has made 12 of 23 shots from 3-point distance in the last two games.

Jaden McDaniels had 21 points and Julius Randle and Rudy Gobert added 19 points each for the Timberwolves (6-4). Naz Reid scored 13 points off the bench. Gobert pulled down 12 rebounds and had 5 blocked shots.

Zach LaVine had 26 points, and DeMar DeRozan scored 22. Domantas Sabonis had 20 points and 13 rebounds after missing the last two games with rib soreness. The effort was there, but he is still laboring from the contusion.

Edwards missed his first five shots before making a 3-pointer, followed by a four-point play at the 4:07 mark of the second quarter. His 3-point basket gave Minnesota a 67-48 margin in the first half.

The Timberwolves led 71-54 at halftime. Edwards had 16 points in the second frame alone, making 4 of 6 from the field, 3 of 3 from beyond the arc, and 5 of 6 at the free-throw line.

In the third quarter, Naz Reid’s basket gave the Timberwolves a 99-71 lead, their largest margin of the game. Minnesota scored 40 points each in the second and third quarters. Timberwolves score 64 points in the paint.

Dennis Schröder was 0 of 10 shooting against the Oklahoma Thunder on Nov. 7. He made 1 of 2 shots from the floor in the game with Minnesota, 0 of 2 behind the arc, 1 of 2 at the line in 28 minutes.

Kings fans began chanting for Keon Ellis halfway through the third quarter. He started the fourth quarter after sitting on the bench for the first three.
