The "Buddy Comedies" of David Cronenberg & Viggo Mortensen | From Studio 9

Toronto auteur David Cronenberg joined us in TIFF's Studio 9 to discuss the humour(s) in his latest film, CRIMES OF THE FUTURE, and his side-splitting friendship with frequent collaborator Viggo Mortensen.

In CRIMES OF THE FUTURE, the human species adapts to a synthetic environment, where the body undergoes new transformations and mutations. With his partner Caprice (Léa Seydoux), celebrity performance artist Saul Tenser (Mortensen) publicly showcases the metamorphosis of his organs in avant-garde performances. Timlin (Kristen Stewart), an investigator from the National Organ Registry, obsessively tracks their movements, which is when a mysterious group is revealed. Their mission: to use Saul’s notoriety to shed light on the next phase of human evolution.
