Fairbanks, Morse and Company were a highly successful manufacturing business that had a hand in all sorts of markets, though they are mostly known for their scales and diesel engines. Naturally, they eventually dabbled into the locomotive market, but this venture barely lasted twenty years with less than 1.5 thousand locomotives sold.
