This project is all about building a bot that reads documents like payment or purchase agreements, grabs the important bits, and puts that data into a spreadsheet automatically, instead of having a person type it all in. We're using Claude's Python SDK with Cloud Codes AI. Last time, we worked through a weather app example to try out how Claude's tool use works, and now we're applying the same ideas here. The plan is for Claude to read a PDF, use a set of business questions to pull out specific data like contract value and payment terms, and then output everything into a CSV file so we do not have to do any manual data entry.

I walked through testing the code, fixed some minor problems and dead code, and did things like switching to command line arguments for easier use. We checked Claude's tool schema, set up the right model, and dealt with setup issues like package installs and model deprecations. In the end, the AI was able to extract key info from the sample document and point out some inconsistencies even a human might miss, showing it can handle real data extraction in a pretty robust way.

We basically automated away the data entry job, and the result could be used for spreadsheet import, or hooked up to something bigger like Salesforce later. This idea really does work and could even be a small business on its own if you wanted to offer automated document data extraction for others.
