Peer Software is proud to announce the launch of PeerGFS version five. One of the new features is called Edge Caching.

This helps to reduce storage footprint and cost at edge locations, or remote or branch offices where you may want to cache only a sub-set of files from one or more master locations, or larger headquarters.

Our edge caching functionality automatically figures out what the "hot" files are that need to be at the edge locations, and dynamically uses a pre-defined amount of storage, or a percentage of the available storage to cache the files locally, that the users need at each individual edge location. This removes the guesswork required as well as the headache of ensuring that there is enough storage space.

It's simple to deploy and means that administrators don't have to wait for storage upgrades at edge locations before being able to synchronize files with them.

Branch office users can now leverage more value from the central storage at the HQ, whilst enjoying the performance benefits of working locally, rather than waiting for files to open across the WAN.
