Kulintang Music?

This video was created for AYE 2020, an online symposium hosted by Princess Galyani Vadhana Institute of Music, Bangkok, Thailand. In this video, Harold Andre explains Maguindanaon Kulintang music for people interested in knowing the basic playing techniques for the kulintang. This video is not intended to be a replacement for actual kulintang education from the masters and/or the actual community setting. This video is simply a Manila-based, academe-taught kulintang player's attempt to discuss the music style to fellow academe-taught ASEAN musicians.

This video was also made for the interested new music composers of AYE 2020 held during PGVIM's 2020 online symposium. The examples are also written in western notation since it is today's ligua franca of musicians due to decades of western hegemony in art and culture. ^_^
