The Mitsubishi Pajero is a sport utility vehicle manufactured and marketed globally by Mitsubishi. Mitsubishi markets the SUV as the Montero in Spain, the Philippines and the Americas, except Brazil and Jamaica — and as the Shogun in the United Kingdom. The Pajero nameplate derives from Leopardus pajeros, the Pampas cat. Mitsubishi redesigned the Pajeros for a second generation, which debuted in January 1991, although exports did not commence until later in the year. Just about everything was now new and further enhanced. This model Pajero remained in production in India till 2012 as the Pajero SFX; the latest generation is sold as the Montero.
