It can, obviously it's a case by case basis, but if your wages were already being garnished by your employer before you're injured chances are that your weekly benefits while you're outta work due to your injury may be garnished as well. So your weekly checks might be reduced by child support. Alternatively, when we come to settle your case most folks are entitled to compensation at the end of their workers comp case. Not all, but by far and away the large majority of those, there may be a lump sum of arrears that are owed. Now, one thing that we would certainly do is make sure that we can negotiate that amount down, work with DSS, obviously you haven't been working, so it's tough to keep up with your obligations in that regard. So we'll make sure that we can do our best to negotiate a fair and reasonable amount with DSS and make sure that your obligation's satisfied so you're not risking any jail time, but you also are compensated and have some money left over to take care of any life events and anything else you need that money for.
