In this tutorial you’ll learn what Premiere Pro’s feature called Selection Follows Playhead is in order to determine if you want to use it or not.

Here’s a quick recap:

Selection Follows Playhead in Premiere Pro makes it so when you drag your time position indicator across the timeline, whatever tracks are active will get selected automatically. For me, I’ve found this causes me to make unnecessary mistakes. I only like to have a clip selected when I actually select it. To turn this feature off, or to turn it on if it is off, go under the Sequence menu and select Selection Follows Playhead.
