In this video, Professor Gupta, a principal scientist in the state project implementing unit, introduces a new certification methodology exclusively developed for natural farming produced in the state. The methodology is called "Certified Evolution Tool for Agricultural Source Analysis Natural Farming," or CETARA Natural Farming for short. Despite the restrictions imposed by COVID-19, the number of farmers practicing natural farming in the state has reached 1.7 lakh, and the scheme has reached every corner of the state. The certification methodology overcomes the bottlenecks of the existing certification systems by allowing farmers to self-certify themselves. The system is bilingual and will be available in both Hindi and English. The certification is perpetual until it is challenged by either the consumer, peer farmers, or street officials. The key principle of the system is the non-use of agrochemicals, externally sourced organic inputs, and GMOs, and it is based on the principles of natural farming. With the creation of captive outlets and branding materials, the state hopes to meet the future demand for natural farming produce.


Overall, the CETARA NF certification methodology offers a simple and effective solution to the challenges faced by organic certification systems. By allowing farmers to self-certify, the process becomes more accessible to those practicing natural farming. The system's public domain information also ensures transparency and accountability, allowing for social audit checks and balances. Moreover, the scoring system is based on the principles of natural farming under the PK3Y scheme, ensuring the use of non-toxic and environmentally sustainable practices.

With the increasing awareness of the harmful effects of chemical inputs on human health and the ecology of the area, the demand for natural farming produce is likely to grow in the future. The creation of captive outlets for urban consumers and the direct retailing of produce through canopies aims to meet this demand. Additionally, the development of logos and branding material for natural produce in the state will help to distinguish natural farming products from conventional farming products.

The system's simplicity and accessibility, combined with its focus on non-toxic and environmentally sustainable practices, make it a valuable tool for farmers, consumers, and the environment.
