This video is on the sources of power loss in a transformer including incomplete flux linkage, resistive heat loss in primary and secondary coils, and induction of eddy current in iron core. We will discuss ways to improve efficiency of transformers by overcoming these problems.

📚Syllabus
• analyse quantitatively the operation of ideal transformers through the application of: (ACSPH110)
– 𝑉_p/𝑉_s =𝑁_p/𝑁_s
– 𝑉_p 𝐼_p=𝑉_s 𝐼_s
• evaluate qualitatively the limitations of the ideal transformer model and the strategies used to improve transformer efficiency, including but not limited to:
– incomplete flux linkage
– resistive heat production and eddy currents
• analyse applications of step-up and step-down transformers, including but not limited to:
– the distribution of energy using high-voltage transmission lines

What is incomplete flux linkage? What is lamination of iron core? What is resistive heat production in transformers? What is efficiency of a transformer
