In this extraordinarily rich and personal teaching, Apostle Arome Osayi takes us on a deep dive into one of the most overlooked yet critical topics in Christian spirituality: the anatomy of the human heart and the role of the conscience as God's primary feedback channel.
The message begins with a sobering warning: You cannot claim spiritual health while God is judging your conscience and you are refusing to respond. The Holy Spirit will not always strive. There is a boundary to divine patience. If a believer consistently ignores the conviction of the Holy Spirit, treating it as background noise rather than a divine signal, there comes a moment when God steps back and allows that person to walk in their own human will—a form of judgment far more terrifying than external punishment.
Apostle Arome then introduces a concept that reshapes how we understand prayer and divine communication: Non-Cognitive Communication. He explains that approximately 70% of God's speaking bypasses the rational mind entirely. Instead, God communicates spirit-to-spirit—His Holy Spirit speaking directly to the believer's human spirit, leaving an impression, a feeling, a knowing that cannot be fully articulated in words. This is not emotionalism; it is the deepest form of divine-human communication. When your spirit goes "flat" during prayer, when an inexplicable unease settles in your chest, when a prompting arises without logical origin—that is the Holy Spirit registering His testimony on your conscience.
To illustrate this, Apostle Arome shares a remarkable personal story. Years ago, during a poorly organized meeting, his bag was taken and used as an offering basket. When returned, he continued using it. But during an extreme season of financial lack, he discovered a piece of paper—money—inside the bag. Knowing it belonged to that offering, he used it out of desperation, promising to return it later. He did return the money, but years later, in a moment of deep prayer, God reminded him of an unresolved detail: He had returned the money but never explained why. The debt was still unresolved in the spiritual register. God gave him a sum—accounting for years of spiritual interest—and he went back to that fellowship, confessed openly, and paid in full.
The peace that flooded his heart after that act of obedience was the evidence that his conscience had been cleansed. This is the blessing of a sensitive conscience—it keeps you from straying without even realizing it.
The teaching then moves into a systematic biblical anatomy of the heart, drawing from Hebrews 10:22, Proverbs 23:7, and Mark 12:30 to demonstrate that the heart is not a single entity but a complex spiritual structure containing four distinct components:
1. The Mind — The thinking aspect of the heart. As a man thinks in his heart, so is he (Proverbs 23:7). This is the most influential part of the heart and the primary target of Satan, who seeks to incline your thinking toward his doctrine.
2. The Emotions — "Love the Lord your God with all your heart" (Mark 12:30). Love is an emotion, and the heart is its seat. Your capacity to feel, to love, to be moved—all of this resides in the heart.
3. The Will — The decision-making faculty of the heart. Your choices, your yielding or resisting, your determination—these flow from this dimension of the heart.
4. The Conscience — The feedback channel through which the Holy Spirit registers His testimony. Having our hearts "sprinkled from an evil conscience" (Hebrews 10:22) confirms that the conscience is embedded within the heart itself.
Understanding this anatomy is not academic; it is strategic. Satan knows the layout of your heart better than most believers do. He targets the thinking dimension to corrupt the whole. But when you understand how God communicates through the conscience, how He expands your capacity through the Word, and how sincerity is the non-negotiable currency of fellowship with Him, you become equipped to walk in deeper alignment, greater sensitivity, and consistent victory.
Draw near to God with a pure heart, a fully assured faith, and a conscience kept clean by prompt obedience. This is the foundation of genuine spiritual health.
