Day 1 of Fund.AI set the stage for how philanthropy can lead in shaping the future of artificial intelligence.
Vilas Dhar, PJMF President, kicked off the event with a message on why philanthropy plays a critical role in shaping AI’s trajectory. Conversations throughout the morning explored how the field can respond to rapid shifts in the AI landscape and how funders are beginning to integrate responsible use into their grantmaking. 

In the afternoon, participants moved their ideas to practice. Skill-building workshops focused on proposal review, grantee support, and organizational readiness. Philanthropic leaders shared real-world examples of how AI is already driving impact in areas like sustainability, food systems, and community service. The day concluded with a discussion on how operational AI can enhance nonprofit systems and foster long-term resilience. 

Across today’s sessions and reflections, one takeaway was consistent. Philanthropy's capital and networks are indispensable in unlocking AI’s full potential to address the world’s most pressing challenges.
