Inyosi Success Stories: Matongoni General Trading

Matongoni, one of Inyosi's beneficiaries, is a 100% black-owned manufacturing and recycling company. Matongoni recycles material from landfill sites, shopping centres, industrial and agricultural activities. They also supply polymers throughout South Africa and established a manufacturing division in which they manufacture a wide range of products including toilet paper and plastic drums.

Matongoni’s staff has grown from 3 employees in 2013 to 123 permanent employees in 2019, along with circa 88 additional independent collectors of recyclable material who receive above market-average payment for their material.

Alongside the Department of Trade and Industry (“DTI”) matching grant, Inyosi provided loan funding to Matongoni during 2018 to assist with executing an expansion plan which included the introduction of an in-house polymer washing and pelleting division.
