Devils Staircase Pro Hillclimb, Oregonia, Ohio 1971

Dayton Motorcycle Club Still has this event at Oregonia, Ohio, the second Sunday of October each year for over 70 years. When this film was shot, the bikes were running carburetors or mechanical fuel injection with 95% nitro fuel. Throttle control was very poor so the bikes were started and warmed up then the throttle was held wide open and power was controlled by the kill button. There were lots of loud backfires, wheelies and spectacular crashes.

Notice that there was no fencing along the sides of the course. Spectators near the top of the hill often stood out on the course to get a better look and got out of the way as the bikes came up the hill. Shot on Super 8 film. Silent.
