The ABSURD Rules and Engineering Behind Group 5 Special Production | Group 5 Monsters Explained!

Описание к видео The ABSURD Rules and Engineering Behind Group 5 Special Production | Group 5 Monsters Explained!

Group 5 Special Production was a class of circuit racing introduced by the FIA in 1976. The limited regulations (less than 2.5 pages worth!) lead to some of the craziest race cars of all time, including the Porsche 935/78 (aka Moby Dick), the Ford Zakspeed Capri Turbo, and the Lancia Beta Montecarlo Turbo. Often dubbed “silhouette race cars”, engineers ran wild and created cars that barely resembled their production counterparts. These were raw cars that put speed over safety as they battled it out in series such as the World Championship for Makes and Deutsche Rennsport Meisterschaft.

But these cars are often forgotten about and many people have no idea about the amazing engineering that made these beasts tick! So strap in for this video where we’ll go over the rules and engineering that made Group 5 Special Production a golden age in circuit racing history!
