Journey back to London from Norwich onboard 745001 as the 1P61 1832 from Norwich to London Liverpool Street calling at Diss, Ipswich, Manningtree, Colchester and London Liverpool Street. Was interesting to see the sliding doors separating first class and standard (see 1:50:51) in use! However, I couldn't see the construction works for the new Beaulieu Park station that would open on 26th October 2025 because it was dark. Also the only short platform on this route was at Manningtree, where you have to be in the front 11 coaches on a 745. However on a 10 car 720 formation, you have to be in the front 9 coaches for Manningtree. As this service ran fast from Colchester to Liverpool Street, oyster and contactless are not valid. The furthest you can use oyster and contactless pay as you go on the Great Eastern Mainline at the moment is Shenfield, with contactless (not oyster) to be extended to Chelmsford and Witham in Summer 2026 (originally 14th December 2025 but delayed until Summer 2026 due to technical issues).
