As a Hunter or Invader, it is possible to end spawning further into the level with gate unopened. After a half-hour of looking for a way out, I've found that there's a subtle incline on the lower roof that is just high enough to survive without taking damage(granted you have the Longtail Cat Talisman or have Soft Cotton/Assassin's Approach).
