The Islands of the Dead | San Francisco and the Farallon Islands 4K

San Francisco is home to many of the nation's most iconic landmarks and a gateway to some of the greatest wonders in the United States including the last remaining redwood groves like those protected by Muir Woods National Monument.

But 28 miles off the coast from San Francisco lies an unknown jewel. Abused and exploited since long before the days of the California Gold Rush The Farallon Islands have become a haven for wildlife and a beacon of natural healing. The waters team with seals, sea lions, blue whales, grey whales, orcas, and great white sharks. The skies filled with nesting sea birds. Between May and July there is more life present near this island that any place we have visited.

If you travel to San Francisco, we'd highly suggest a visit to the Farallones as well as a trip to the Muir Woods.
