【Pls look at the top comment first】This is a band which appeared in the name of two musicians. Archer / Scallan refers to guitarist Laurence Archer and vocalist Peter Scallan. For loyal hard/melodic rock fans, they are two personages from legendary bands. This band of their own once exsisted during the very short periods of time of their 1980s careers.

The band was founded by Laurence Archer as his project during the mid to late 1980s, featuring Peter Scallan's joining later. In the early to mid 1980s, Laurence Archer had become an excellent guitarist and songwriter, whose name is synonymous with quality hard rock until today. Whatever band he performed, he always left deep impressions.

Laurence Archer was notable for his work with British legendary bands UFO and Phil Lynott's Grand Slam. He wrote many of Grand Slam's songs together with Phil Lynott and Mark Stanway, some of which were released as Thin Lizzy songs. Besides, the musical works from this album should never be forgotten among Archer's 1980s creations.

This album "L.A. Secrets" was recorded from November 1986 to March 1987. Both Laurence Archer and Peter Scallan were young. For Archer, he had already become a veteran in rock n roll circle, whose career can be dated back to 1980 in his first band Stampede. For Scallan, a fresh vocalist from Scotland, this album blazed a path in his career.

It's never too late to hear the "Lost UK Jewels" series, because the musical works from the series are very precious, featuring first-class creations and first-class performance from the artists. Archer / Scallan is the Vol.16 from the series. This is an underrated album released in 2019 with Archer's supremely amazing masterpieces. Five songs from this album "L.A. Secrets" were originally included in Laurence Archer's 1986 solo album "LA". His solo album was only released in Japan with limited copies, fearuting Archer as the lead vocalist, guitarist and producer. After Archer's solo album was released, he decided to bring somebody on board to re-record several of the better compositions plus some new creations, so Peter Scallan became the candidate on vocals to join the project Archer / Scallan, because Scallan was a more trained and smoother young singer, whose voice was appreciated by Archer.

Musically, "L.A. Secrets" sounds polished, featuring 1980s vibe by fantastic aor tunes. Archer's brilliant composing, arranging and Scallan's wonderful singing make all the songs like shining diamonds. Here the song "One Time" was a progress on its re-recording with Scallan while its original version sung by Archer also carries a tasteful effect.

The yellow flying V guitar on the album cover is the trademark of Laurence Archer. In 2009, Stampede was reformed. In 2011, Archer also began playing in the band X-UFO. In 2019, Archer confirmed he was recording new material for Grand slam. Almost all his former bands have been gradually revived.

The year 2019 was also the resurrection year of this lost "L.A. Secrets", which fell to the wayside due to some complicated causes. Don't forget that Peter Scallan also plays a vital role for British melodic rock, who later becomes best-known as the lead vocalist from Mortiz and whose careers last until today. Archer / Scallan carries the memorable days of both legends.
