In the next message in our Indispensable Biblical Truths series, we delve into the topic of faith in God through by examining Genesis 22. We discover the incredible journey of Abraham, who demonstrated absolute surrender and full obedience to God's will.

Before delving into Genesis 22, we revisit the four promises God made to Abraham in earlier chapters, highlighting their significance:

• God's promise of making Abraham a great nation and blessing him. [Genesis 12 verses 2-3]

• The assurance that Ishmael wouldn't be the heir but rather Abraham's own son. [Genesis 15 verse 4]

• God's commitment to make Abraham exceedingly fruitful and raise nations and kings from his descendants. [Genesis 17 verse 6]

• The command to cast out Hagar and Ishmael, emphasizing that through Isaac, Abraham's offspring would be named. [Genesis 21 verse 9]

We learn how Abraham's faith was put to the ultimate test and his response was ground in God’s promises. Abraham trust that God would somehow fulfill His promises, even if it meant a miraculous resurrection.

We are compelled to look for parallels between Abraham's faith and our own journey of faith by focus on the importance of trusting in God's promises. As 2 Corinthians 5:7 states, we walk by faith and not by sight.

Hutch Matteson concludes with a challenge for all of us to live a life that reflects unwavering faith in God and anchored in the promises He has made to each of us.
