Is the Volume 5 epilogue of The Apothecary Diaries an assault? a dark, misunderstood make-out session?
Or is it something in between?

Today i tried to compare the official translation with the fan translations (Chinese, and Japanese) to find the truth.


Many fans (including myself) were shocked by the intensity of Jinshi and Maomao's interaction at the end of Volume 5.

However, after cross-referencing multiple translations looking at the original Japanese "Zero Pronoun" structure, and finding out other Mistranslations…

it seems the English version might have missed some key romantic cues—and at least three separate kisses.
(That the Japanese fan understood and we didn’t)
