How Kapildhara got its name
The waterfall is situated 6 km from the Narmada Kund The hallowed waters of the Narmada River cascade from a height of 100 ft which turns into a waterfall Kapila and Erandi rivers also join Narmada to form Kapildhara waterfall Ancient lore has it that the great sage Kapil performed severe austerities at the site of this waterfall
There is a temple of Narmada close to the waterfall Restaurants and food vendors selling chana masala drinks lemon water tea etc are available on the road near the parking lot The parking lot itself is located 800 m from Kapildhara waterfall
The base of the waterfall is accessible via concrete steps which helps you to get a good view of it You can spend some time admiring Mother Nature click photos and just soak up the peaceful air
If you have time in hand do visit Durga Dhara waterfall as well
P.S Be aware of the monkeys close to the waterfall site that are always ready to snatch away food packets from vulnerable visitors
Ideally monsoon and winter months are good for visiting the waterfall site But even summers do not disappoint tourists who come here for enjoying the waters of Kapildhara
By air The closest airport is Jabalpur airport 246 Km
By train Pendra Road Railway Station 17 km and Anuppur Junction Railway Station are the closest railway station
By road Amarkantak is well connected to Umaria Shahdol Jabalpur and Rewa by Road
