Summary:
In Ireland, kindly landlord Sir Miles O’Hara faces mounting debts and sells part of his racing stable to an American buyer, who also recruits promising jockey Neil Ross. Neil leaves behind Lady Sheila O’Hara, only to be injured in his first major race in the United States. When Sir Miles and Sheila cross the Atlantic with their prize filly Dark Rosaleen, they enter her in a high-stakes handicap as a last chance to reverse their fortunes.

On the day of the race, circumstances thrust Neil back into the saddle. He rides Dark Rosaleen to victory, restoring the O’Haras’ prospects and rekindling his future with Sheila. Themes of migration, perseverance, and community run through the film, set against horse racing’s spectacle.
