Using a live animal trap to catch a wild, feral kitty cat.

We recently trapped and adopted a feral cat! At the Farm, some new mice friends have been making themselves at home and we decided a feral cat was the perfect fix. We saw that one of our neighbors had a feral cat coming to their house for food but that they were moving away and wanted to make sure the cat had a new home. We tried to initially catch the cat with a cardboard box and a can of food... this obviously did not work as he was pretty skittish. So then we headed to Tractor Supply and purchased a live trap. We went back up the hill to our neighbors house and set the trap with the can of food inside it. We waited a few hours until we got the call from our neighbors that the cat was in the trap. We grabbed our girls and headed over to collect the cat. When we arrived he was meowing and laying down in the trap, it looked like he was ready for his next adventure. We brought him home and closed the doors of my barn studio to get him acclimatized to our farm. We kept him in the studio for about 2 weeks before we let him roam free. Now he's a happy, healthy, kitty that roams the property at his leisure and has a nice meal in the barn whenever he wants. Needless to say we haven't seen those mice friends in some time... Feral cat for the win.
