Hi everybody, Andy here with etrailer. Let's take a quick look at this Shim for your Stromberg Carlson Lend-a-Hand Folding Grab Handles for your RV. Now, this shim is a small 1/4"-thick spacer that's made by Stromberg Carlson for their Aluminum Lend-a-Hand and Mini Lend-a-Hand Folding Grab Handles. Physically, each shim is going to measure right at 3 7/8" long. 2 3/8" wide. I mentioned the thickness of 1/4", just confirming that with you here.

The holes are 5/16", and they are spaced right at 1 1/8" on center. That's gonna be the case with this as well. Hopefully you can see that. So they're gonna line up with the handles mounting screws. When you install a lend-a-hand handle on your RV, it is meant to fold flat against the wall or door frame when not in use.

Sometimes, though, as you probably know, things get in the way like a door lock, a key pad, a decorative trim, or even uneven siding. So if the handle can't sit flat, that won't fold properly or it's gonna rub against something. That's where this shim is going to come in. So by slipping this shim behind one or both of the mounting brackets, you push the handle slightly farther away from the wall, giving it enough clearance to fold and stow correctly. The installation's gonna be pretty easy.

You simply mount the shim between the grab handles bracket and your RV wall, and that extra 1/4" space is gonna make a big difference, helping that handle clear those obstacles that we talked about and operate as intended. I do wanna point out that we discovered recently that the color might vary, so just be aware. Just because this is the color that I have here on our video. You might get a slightly different color, so just be aware of that. If you happen to have any other questions, don't hesitate to reach out.
