Another video with the Rega P25 and the amazing Zyx Omega-G! :)

I have two copies of this album, one is an American pressing, the other is from Holland. IMHO, the Holland pressing has slightly better sound quality; more analog and 'organic' so I used it for this video.

Rush is one of my favorite bands and while I still love the new music they make, the new recordings leave a LOT to be desired - even the new vinyl releases. I picked up Clockwork Angels on vinyl and while it's better than the CD release, it still sounds compressed and 'digital' with a generic, 'homogenized' sound to it. The music itself is great, but the recording is lacking. After hearing the new album on vinyl and being disappointed with the SQ, I felt like digging out my older Rush vinyl to get an 'analog fix'. I really wish they would go back to the original recording studio they used for earlier records like Moving Pictures and Power Windows, although Manor Studio in Oxfordshire, England (the studio where Power Windows was recorded) has since closed down. It's a shame; I still think Neil Peart's drums sound best recorded to analog tape, but that's just me. :)

This video is meant as a demonstration and critique of the vinyl media format, the Rega P25 turntable, Zyx Omega-G cartridge, and Audio Research PH5 tube phono preamp. No copyright infringement was expressed or implied. Please support the artist and purchase their music.

Equipment used: Rega P25 turntable with a Michell Engineering Technoweight, Isokinetik Isosub GT sub platter and a Rega white belt, Zyx Omega-G moving coil cartridge, Audio Research PH5 vacuum tube phono preamp, Apogee Rosette AD converter, Focusrite Liquid 56 recording interface and Wireworld Eclipse II interconnects. The cartridge was aligned using a Feichert alignment protractor and tracking force was set to 2.0g with a digital scale.
