Patchwork Restitched - Johan de Meij

Описание к видео Patchwork Restitched - Johan de Meij

Johan de Meij completed his first composition in 1979, a brief three‐part work for six brass players named “Patchwork”: a mixture of different musical concepts that kept lingering in his mind. Patchwork was composed and dedicated to the Hague Brass Sextet, later renamed the Dutch Brass Sextet. Johan has played Trombone and Euphonium with great pleasure in this extraordinary ensemble for 14 years, performing in numerous national and international concerts on radio and television and recording several LP’s and CD’s. Suddenly ‐ as a result of the Covid‐19 pandemic forty‐one years later ‐ he had a lot of spare time and when sifting through his manuscripts he came across his firstling and decided to take it up. This led to “Patchwork Restitched” with new instrumentations for concert band and fanfare band. With occasionally some repairs on articulation, phrasing and tempo indication, the early charms of this youth work remain intact. Molenaar Edition is very pleased to continue cooperating with Johan de Meij and publishing his very first composition in a wonderful new version for concert band and fanfare band.
