La Junta Canyon Designated Dispersed Camping, Forest Road 76, Carson National Forest, New Mexico

La Junta Canyon is located in the beautiful Sangre de Cristo mountains of Northern New Mexico in the Carson National Forest. There are 34 designated dispersed campsites spread out in 4 miles, each with a Forest Service metal fire ring. There are also 2 campgrounds, Duran Canyon Campground and Upper La Junta Campground, 4 toilets, trash pickup and water, along with miles of ATV & hiking trails.
Sites are $12 per night and most of them are open & sunny. Atving, fishing, and hunting are popular here and I would advise against camping here on Holiday weekends.
