This PS2 Slim I've fixed before still has issues. Now the laser goes all wonky when the lid is closed with the worm motor constantly spinning. After probing the ribbon cable, I found that some of the pins had poor connectivity and decided the ribbon cable needed a replacement.

If your PS2 has a similar issue, it might need a new ribbon cable as well. Luckily, they're available for fairly cheap:
