Guillermo Uribe Holguín (1880-1971) born in Bogotá, was a Colombian composer and violinist and one of the most important Colombian cultural figures of his generation. He composed prolifically in many genres and founded the National Symphony Orchestra of Colombia. He earned a scholarship on behalf on the colombian government to study in France in 1907. At the Schola Cantorum, he commenced violin studies with Armand Parent, and composition with Vincent d'Indy, alongside fellow students Erik Satie and Joaquín Turina. He has written 2 concertos for violin, one for viola and also for Piano. Chamber works includes 10 string quartets, Piano trios and quintets. Besides concertante works, he has also written at least 13 symphonies and also many piano solo works. There is no copyright infringement intended.
