A man travelling from Jinshan to Taipei on a Kuo Kuang bus was suddenly taken critically ill when it was passing through Anle District in Keelung on Friday morning. His heartbeat and his breathing suddenly stopped. The passengers on the bus immediately helped him and the driver also reported the incident to his superiors and changed his route. Within five minutes the driver had delivered him to Chang Gung Memorial Hospital.

It was a 5-minute drive, so I immediately rushed him to hospital. As soon as I heard the word “coma,” I immediately broadcasted to the passengers it was an emergency and a passenger needed to be sent to the emergency room. Saving lives comes first, so I rushed him to hospital immediately.

When we arrived at the scene, the driver and the other people were already carrying the patient out. The first thing we did was feel the carotid artery. When we found he had no pulse, we helped to carry the patient to a hospital stretcher and then we handed him over to the hospital for emergency treatment.

Although the driver took only 5 minutes to rush the man to the hospital, he was still ultimately pronounced dead. However, after the driver’s quick decision, the passengers were not dissatisfied with the delay in their journey. Instead they worked together to save the man. Their kind actions showed the warm side of human nature.
