A slideshow of photos I took during my first visit to Ardara in County Donegal on Thursday 6th July 2017.

Ardara (Irish: Ard an Rátha, meaning "height of the fort"), pronounced "Ardra", is a small town in the west of County Donegal. It is located on the N56 and R261 roads. The town in the 2016 Census had a population of 732, an increase of 1 person since the 2011 Census. Some of the main scenic points near the town are the Glengesh Pass, the Maghera Falls and the views out over the Atlantic from Loughros Point.

Holy Family Church (Roman Catholic) in Ardara was built in 1903. It has stained glass windows designed by Evie Hone.

St. Conall's Church of Ireland in Ardara was built in 1833.

Ardara Methodist Church was built in 1832.

There are 2 primary schools in Ardara; St. Mary's National School and The Wood National School.

In 2012, the Irish Times voted Ardara as the best village in Ireland to live in.

Ardara hosts the Melting Point Festival on the June Bank Holiday weekend.

CLG Ard an Rátha is the local GAA Club in Ardara. It was founded in 1921. It won the Donegal Senior Football Championship in 1923, 1926, 1928, 1981, 2000 and 2004.
