Gujarat is a state on the western coast with a coastline of 1600 km most of which lies on the Kathiawar and a population of 60.4 million . It is the fifth largest Indian State by area and the ninth largest state by Population.
Vigha which is actually Bigha but pronounced as Vigha in Gujrat is a traditional units of land dealings. In the Saurastha region of Gujatat 1 Vigha is measured as 16 Gunthas.
Hence 1 Vigha is = 1089*16=17424 Square Feet. Although in some parts of Gujarat 1 Vigha is also considered as 24 or 25 Gunthas . But for calculator purpose below we will consider that 1 Vigha=16 Gunthas.
Land measurement units in India vary from state to state . Measurement of Land in North India is done in units such as Bigha, Biswa,Marla,Kanal,Katha etc. Wheareas units used in southern states include Ground,Cent, Ankanam,Guntha etc. Size of units like Bigha,Biswa and Katha also vary from state to state . Although there is an increase in the use of standard units such as Square feet, Square Yard, Square Meter, Acres and Hectares . Local Units are still used in all across India is Fragmented and should be assimilated at one Place. In Gujarat Units are used for land measurements are Bigha or Vigha, Mala,Kumbha,Mallun,Biswa or Veesvas, Hath ,Visa,Guntha,Acre, Hector,Square Feet, Squre Meter,Square Yards etc.
