ABOUT US: We are two 60-somethings who are fortunate enough to be able to smell the roses---and we do!---(while we still can). The ships in Crystal Cruises fleet currently offer eight dining options for you (not including Scoops ice cream bar and 24 hour in-suite dining). The video you’ll see here is all from Symphony, but—-as the dining is nearly identical to Crystals’ other property, Serenity—- this video pretty much applies to both ships.

Crystal recently announced a collaboration with worldwide restaurant chain Beefbar. Crystal will be the first cruise line to offer the Beefbar concept at sea when it debuts later this year.

I do suggest you always check the daily newsletter, Reflections, to verify hours and see if there are schedule changes. For example, Waterside restaurant is typically closed for lunch, but it is open for lunch on days when Symphony is at sea.

And, to see each eateries menu for the day, simply refer to your in-suite tablet. This came in handy when we checked Waterside’s menu one day and saw they would be serving caviar, lobster and crab that evening! We canceled our speciality restaurant reservation and made a beeline to W.

In this video, we’ll explore all your eating and drinking options as the day goes along. So, we’ll start with breakfast, head to lunch,
Then check out the afternoon tea,
Enjoy some canapés delivered to our suite
Have a cocktail before dinner
And then explore all the dinner options.

All the times for those chapters are listed above so you can easily skip to what’s important to you.

And, if you’d like a complete tour of Symphony, see that at the link above.

For breakfast, you have four options:

The Bistro: starting at 6 a.m. and ending at 11:30

Marketplace from 6:30 ’til 10 a.m.

Waterside: 7:30 ’til nine.

And, lastly, The Trident Grill is open 10 ’til 11 a.m.

This gives you an idea of what the Bistro offers.

Here’s a tour of the Marketplace breakfast buffet.

They do have some made-to-order egg dishes here at Marketplace, but not Eggs Benedict. You’ll need to go to Waterside for that.

The Marketplace buffet is sort of horseshoe-shaped and the stations mirror each other as you go around.

If a table service breakfast is what you seek, Waterside is the choice. They have a lovely Japanese breakfast available. I always like to order Eggs Benedict to see how well the kitchen handles poached eggs.

Orange, grapefruit and carrot juice are squeezed fresh Daily on Symphony. That’s a smoothie.

No matter where you dine on Symphony, you won’t be seated with strangers. There are plenty of two-tops and four-tops for passengers who prefer to eat with just those they know.

For those looking for a Bloody Mary or a Mimosa or even some Bailey’s Irish Cream in your coffee, you’re out of luck: I was told the bars don’t open until 10 a.m., so no Bellini for you!

I went back to our suite and grabbed my bottle of Bailey’s.

And, here’s a glaring difference between Crystal and Silversea: on our first morning with Silversea, I asked for Bailey’s with my coffee, and although I had them scrambling because the bars were closed, eventually they did deliver a side of Bailey’s to me. Not only that, but the next morning I was greeted with, “Good morning, Mister Bailey’s!” And they had my favorite creamer waiting for me.

I’ll soon post a video with a critical comparison of Crystal and Silversea. Please subscribe and turn on notifications, and you’ll be one of the first to know when that comparison video is posted.
